Birdsong Cottage

We made a very last minute booking and therefore really appreciated the prompt response and communication from North East Escapes. Birdsong Cottage is a lovely, modern cottage in a peaceful location whilst also being very convenient for Bamburgh and the surrounding area. The property was clean and very well equipped with everything we needed for our short stay. We really appreciated the Welcome Pack too which is always a nice touch.

Spotless cottage in. beautiful quiet location, close to Bamburgh and the Northumbria coast. Twin bedroom was downstairs - something we hadn't picked up on when booking, we used this room for small children which meant we were up and down the stairs in the night when they woke up, and had to tiptoe around the living space in the evening once they were asleep. Overall though we loved the cottage and it was a great base for the weekend.

Disappointing to have keep emailing re: issues over the short stay Positive: Pretty exterior. Modern. Nice bathrooms . Lovely artwork. Good location for visiting NE Coast in car. Log burner great. Welcome hamper appreciated. Negative: Cleanliness on arrival poor- dusty , floors & stairs dirty, sofa sandy and dog hairs, cobwebs, oven dirty. No cleaning equipment (hoover, mop snd some cleaning spray would’ve been useful + antibac wipes) had to wipe everywhere eith washing up liquid & dishcloth. Cleaners had to come in again following day. Sewage smell kept coming abd going all 5 days. One day very bad. North East Escapes did send out a handyman one day re: smell but he couldn’t rectify - said could be septic tanks as they’d just been emptied. They also apologised and offered a little monetary compensation which was appreciated. Communication was little irritating as initially was via email but then switched to Booking.com messages which were missed.

Charming yet modern cottage in a rural setting perfect for beach walks in Bamburgh and exploring the local area. Positive: Great location. Everything in the kitchen you would need to prepare meals. Tv with Netflix unexpected. Very comfy bed! Clean modern bathrooms. Negative: It is unfortunate that the bridge over the river is being repaired for a number of months and the works can be very noisy. Such a shame as the location is so rural and off the beaten track, perfect for a quiet, peaceful holiday ‘ in nature’. Staying between Monday and Friday was a disadvantage for us as this is when the works were being carried out. The weekends will be unaffected.
