The Morning Room @ The Merchants

Negative: The bed was a bit hard for both of us

All things considered it was a lovely and relaxing short break Positive: Attention to detail was great in the room layout. The Morning Room had a lot of charm. Lovely spacious double bed. Although no breakfast provided at Merchant's, there were ample places on Bridge Street to have breakfast. Negative: Place, location and staff were all excellent.

Great location, very central. Lots of lovely restaurants and bars very close by. Gorgeous historical building. Bedroom was beautifully presented (we booked the Morning Room) and the hosts really had thought of everything. Immaculately clean. Staff member who was there at check in and out was really friendly. The only slight downside is due to the historical nature of the building, the windows are single glazed. They provide ear plugs but for very light sleepers, it may be difficult.

We had a comfortable stay at the Merchants and enjoyed our visit to Berwick. Positive: The room was spacious and comfortable. Beautifully decorated. The bathroom was fitted out to a high standard. There were lots of extra little touches e.g the tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries were all of a high standard. The location was good and the owner and her staff were friendly and very helpful. Negative: When we booked at first we thought it was a room in a hotel (which clearly it isn’t). Having said that we realised the set up before we got there so we knew what to expect but perhaps the description could be clearer.
