The 'cottage' (its actually an end of terrace house) was very well equipped, clean and tidy. The appliances are modern. The small back yard caught the midday sun and had a washing line. The location was a 10 minute walk to the Bond Gate and access to all amenities (5 minutes to Barterbooks and bus stops). There is a Co-Op store nearby which proved handy. Parking may have proved tricky but we got a park most days outside, or adjacent to, the property. A minor issue was resolved promptly by North East Escapes (thank you Kiera). There is a wealth of local information within the front room cupboard but best to check on-line for the most current updates - availability/open times etc. A comfortable stay.
Hollyhocks Cottage with family Positive: The cottage was very homely and welcoming with a little enclosed garden at the back (watered the pot plants as it was very hot). Right next to the Co Op so great for getting supplies! Kitchen had everything you could need. Towels supplied. Beds comfy. Lots of maps and books about the area. 5 minute walk to Barter Books and another 5 to the town centre, castle and gardens. Easy on street parking. Negative: Nothing really to not like, it was a too hot upstairs due to the hot weather but that can't be helped
I would recommend anyone to stay at hollyhocks Positive: Clean and tidy property Negative: Close to local amenities and good parking availability
Positive: How close it was to town centre. Cleanliness Negative: Bathroom is down stairs. Okay for young people, but not good for older people who have to use the toilet in the night.
