Cosy and comfortable accommodation in a nice spot to explore Northumberland

James CroftAug 2026

Nice place, perfect location but slightly rough around the edges.

Overall a very good stay, but some improvements needed. Pros: Great location for exploring the local area. Very quiet and peaceful whenever we were at the cottage. Secure garden for our small dog. Nice welcome pack on arrival (tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, crackers). Comfy bed. Very good and powerful double rain shower. Easy check in/out. Tennis voucher. Cons: Cleaning needs improving; cooking pan that was full of fat/grease in the drawer, the oven had crumbs inside, stains on the bed blanket, dust/hair/fur in floor corners, cobwebs and spiders in ceiling corners. The provided secure soap dispensers had nothing inside. No dishcloths, no washing liquid. Although it states in the provided section it would be provided, there was no salt/pepper cooking oil or anything condiment wise for very basic cooking needs. Although there was a voucher for tennis, that we did not use, there was no voucher for the sausages at the butchers as described.

We had a fantastic holiday discovering the beautiful Northumberland coast for the first time Positive: Lovely and peaceful. Detached property. Negative: It has an infestation of cellar spiders..so the first hour of my holiday was spent removing webs (and potentially, eggs) from corners of ceilings and behind furniture. A local pub was supposed to be less than a mile away...we only discovered the location (on a campsite) on the last day. No nearby facilities/shops.
